BX Bookworms Made It Rain on My Dream (Debut Pics)

holiday-market
On December 10th, 2016, The Lit. Bar made its debut at the Bronx Museum of the Arts… and it was LIT! (Photo credit: Lauren M. Click)

Not only did ya’ll show up, but The Lit. Bar was the #1 seller at the holiday market of over 50 amazing local vendors. Don’t get used to knowing our sales, but I want you to know how bigly *in my Trump voice* ya’ll came through…

We brought in $2,325.72 over 2 days. 92 sales… 122 books… 80 gift items sold! 1,280 people visited–that means we captured over 7% the weekend’s market with an average check of $25–sorry, I live for stats. Anyway, you baked us desserts, local authors surprised us with autographed books, The Atlantic,  NowThis, and News 12 The Bronx covered our story, I gave out unlimited hugs and usies, and I was right next to the coquito table so the rest was a blur.

Behind the scenes…

Damn, I have no idea what I’m doing.

I got a call from NYPL’s SIBL to come pick up a huge donation of brand new best-selling titles. Omg, who was going to sort and price all these books? I was hanging to life by a thread (I’m still working a full-time job) so I called upon the troops… Latasha, Jay, Pam, and Paul to come to save my ass.

Everyone’s gone and now I’m feeling inspired from all the support. One thousand cans of spray paint and trips to Home Depot/Target/Ikea later, I created the display I imagined on Pinterest.

Thank you to the Bronx Museum of the Arts for this wonderful opportunity and…

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! I was stalking your social media pages to see what you guys were saying and here’s some of my faves…

  1. Hi, I saw your bookstore mentioned in the Book Riot Newsletter and I was blown away by your Indiegogo campaign (donated!) and your blog. I can’t wait to see the Lit.Bar come to fruition. Hoping to open an indie bookstore myself someday and it really brought me joy to see that you are doing it.
